Hi, I'm Nina
I created this space to share many of the things I wish I had known during my journey — and help you navigate yours — as an expat living in the vibrant heart of the Middle East.

In 2010 after a job redundancy, a soul searching trip to Las Vegas, re-training and one application on tefl.com later and I found myself frantically looking for information on a little known (at the time) country called Bahrain. A primitive Google search yielded little to no results about the Kingdom that was soon to be my home and unbeknown to me, shape the rest of my life. Following Bahrain, it was a jump to Riyadh, KSA and the USA before finally becoming part of expat life in Abu Dhabi.
After moving to the UAE, I quickly realized how much there is to love about life here: the incredible diversity, the forward-thinking cities, the balance between tradition and innovation, and of course, the warm desert sun. But I also saw how overwhelming it can be to start fresh in a completely new culture, with new systems, new rules, and a pace of life that doesn’t always slow down for newcomers.
